In addition to its LED light source, the LG HF65LSR offers practical ultra-short-throw lens and versatile SmartTV features. Requirements for the best entertainment.
Ultrashort throw optics for extra short distances
The ultra-short-throw lens of the LG HF65LSR allows the projector to achieve a normal image size over a particularly short distance. It is thus able to reach a picture width of 2m at a distance of about 58cm, including the depth of the device thanks to the fact that the mirror is at the rear of the projector. This means that the LG HF65LSR can be conveniently placed on sideboards or other cabinets to achieve a normal picture size. In comparison, conventional projectors usually require a distance of 2.5m and more to achieve a 2m image width.
The space savings of the UST lens also has other advantages. You can move in front of the projector screen and do not create a shadow making it it ideal for motion games on game consoles. Another advantage is that it can be integrated into furniture. Thus, you design a visually appealing living room cinema.
To properly set up the image on the screen, it has a 4-corner correction and a vertical keystone correction of +/- 15 degrees.
Long lasting LED technology
Another advantage of the LG HF65LSR is its LED light source. Compared to a conventional lamp, it has the advantage that it does not need to be changed and therefor there are no maintenance costs in the form of replacement lamps. The LED light source should last up to 30,000 hours, which is equal to several lamp lives in a conventional projector. This not only saves costs, but also protects the environment.
Another advantage is the good colour rendering of the projector. Thanks to the LED technology the DLP projector does not need a colour wheel as the colours are generated by the LEDs. This ensures optimal colour matching which in turn results to colour-attractive image reproduction.
Full HD for a clear picture
In the field of short throw projectors, the WXGA resolution is currently the most common. Not so with the LG HF65LSR. It offers the Full HD resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels for a sharp image display. This makes it ideal for movies, games and more, just right for home entertainment in the living room!
Compared to its predecessor, the LG PF1000U, the LG HF65LSR offers practical SmartTV features. Although they are not as sophisticated as the LG Adagio 2.0, they still offer versatile applications.
That's not all it offers in this area, added to this is the Magic Remote, which was otherwise reserved for the Adagio only. It allows you to control the projector menu via motion, making the handling of the projector even smoother and more intuitive. In combination with the Smart TV properties, it ensures the best home entertainment.
Screen Share for wireless playback
When it comes to wireless playback, the LG HF65LSR is well positioned. It offers the Screen Share feature, based on the Miracast system. Thanks to Miracast, you can wirelessly transfer content in 1080p quality from the compatible smartphone or tablet to the projector. Another plus is the wireless DLNA connection. For example, it can be integrated into home networks in order to project content from the home media server.
In addition to the picture, the sound is transmitted as well. This makes the Bluetooth audio interface of the projector all the more practical, as it allows you to transfer the sound from it, for example, to a soundbar or speakers with Bluetooth.
Otherwise, an internal stereo speaker with 2 x 3 watts of power is available.
USB viewer for stand-alone use
A practical feature, which we already know from its predecessor, is the internal USB viewer. With it you can play various contents directly from the USB stick. Compared to other projectors, the USB Viewer by LG is very versatile. Supported formats include DivX, MP3, JPEG and JPEG4. In the LG HF65LSR test, the projector convinced with a fluent reproduction of the Full HD content. Likewise, Office files can be displayed. If you have content in digital form, this is a convenient way to have it displayed by the projector.
The DLP projector uses the 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution in 16:9 format. Its light output of 1000 lumens is at a normal level for a ultra-short throw projector. The contrast of 150,000: 1 provides an attractive black level and in our LG HF65LSR review the black levels were superb. Its operating noise is 34 dB in normal mode and 21 dB in Eco mode.
Here is the LG HF65LSR well positioned. It has two HDMI inputs, one of which supports ARC. There are also two USB Type A ports and a LAN port. For audio signals an optical interface and a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones is available.
In the box
In the box with the projector you will find a power cable, the power supply, a remote control and instructions.
Conclusion: Versatile UST projector with Smart TV features
The LG Ultra Short Throw Projector offers a wealth of features to appeal to fans of Smart TVs. Even if the scale is not as strong as its big brother, the LG Adagio 2.0, it still offers an attractive range of features. Consider this and the LG HF65LSR price, it is a very appealing proposition.
