4K projectors

Sony 4K projector - The 4K resolution is now used in more and more projectors. In the consumer segment, ie in the home cinema projectors, Sony offers multiple 4K projectors. Sony's SXRD technology has been able to natively render 4K resolution for a few years. The first Sony 4K projector was the Sony VPL-VW1100ES. Meanwhile, however, the number of Sony 4K projectors has grown and there ares several units offered. Currently it is the Sony VPL-VW550ES and the Sony VPL-VW320ES. Both models are available in black and white. In the 4K projector test, the Sony projectors have a slight lead thanks to their native 4K resolution. -4K DLP projector- In addition to the Sony SXRD projectors with 4K resolution, now come more and more DLP projector with a 4K DLP chip on the market. However, the definition on the part from Texas Instruments is different. While a Sony 4K projector has 4096 x 2160 pixels, the current 4K DLP projector use the UHD resolution, which is 3840 x 2160 pixels. It is also called QFHD resolution because it uses four times the number of Full HD resolution pixels. At the moment you will find an Acer 4K projector, BenQ 4K projector and Optoma 4K projectors. The current DLP projectors from the consumer segment all use the UHD resolution. DLP 4K projectors with the 4096x2160 pixels are also on the market, but these are high-end installation projectors from Barco, Christie and Panasonic. These projectors are not suitable for the living room or home cinema room. They find their application in large halls or smaller cinemas. -Epson 4K projector- Another type of 4K projector are the models that work with a 4K upscale. Moving the 3LCD panel or the D-ILA chip generates a 4K resolution. These technologies work according to a comparable procedure and are named differently by the respective manufacturers. Epson uses 4K enhancement technology. This is used in the home cinema projectors Epson EH-TW7300, Epson EH-TW9300, Epson EH-TW9300W and the Epson EH-LS10500. However, the Epson 4K enhancement technology is also used in the current installation class of the Epson projector with laser light source. These are, for example, the Epson EB-L1100U, the Epson EB-L1200U, the Epson EB-L1300U or the Epson EB-L1405U. They are the first laser projector in the installation class to use 4K enhancement technology, which enables them to deliver a pin-sharp image for large-screen projections. -JVC 4K projector JVC also relies on a 4K upscaling of the D-ILA chip. This is the JVC 4K eShift technology. It also works with a panel offset to generate the 4K representation. The first JVC 4K projectors with 4K eShift technology are the JVC DLA-X5000, the JVC DLA-X7000 and the JVC DLA-X9000. However, JVC does not rely exclusively on the 4K eShift technology, but has announced the JVC DLA-Z1 a true 4K projector. This is equipped with a laser light source, which highlights it in two ways. It is the first pure JVC 4K projector with a 4K D-ILA chipset. -4K & HDR- One feature that often goes hand in hand with a 4K projector is HDR. The High Dynamic Range gives the 4K image a more natural touch, as it significantly enhances the contrast. Of course, HDR not only has an effect on the contrast, ie the black and white representation, but also has an effect on the colours. The colour representation is also fine by the individual contrast gradations, which leads to more discernible colour nuances. The HDR image together with the 4K resolution achieves an unprecedented picture experience.
