For whom are LED walls suitable?

LED walls are characterised by their modular design. They consist of individual modules that can be flexibly connected to each other. In this way, formats beyond the classic 16:9 and installations around corners, for example, can also be realised. This makes any size with maximum brightness possible. LED walls are also very robust and therefore suitable for outdoor use.

LED walls are known for their impressive size, which is achieved by assembling a variable number of panels. They offer high resolution, depending on the panel type and size, and are ideal for outdoor applications with their high brightness and almost 180 degree viewing angle. LED walls have a very long service life and can be used for up to 100,000 hours when switched on.

For whom are displays suitable?

Displays can be used within the framework of digital signage applications both individually and connected as a video wall. In addition to the classic display of advertising messages, individual displays can also be used for interactive applications.

Displays come in a variety of sizes between 32 and 110 inches and with resolutions from HD to 4K. Their brightness varies depending on the model, as does the viewing angle, which is usually between 160 and 180 degrees. For displays, the haze level should also be taken into account. The higher the haze level, the more matt the display is. This ensures better readability in bright environments. Displays have a medium to high service life, are often interactive and can be used for outdoor applications, whereby special models are required.

Who are projectors suitable for?

Projectors, on the other hand, depend on distance and screen size. They offer resolutions from HD to 4K. To be used in bright environments or outdoors, special installation projectors are required that have a powerful lamp. The viewing angle is limited by the projection surface.

Projectors can be used in conjunction with interactive whiteboards if required. In combination with appropriate outdoor enclosures, projector can also be used outdoors. Outdoor use is only recommended in the late evening and at night to enable bright and high-contrast projection.

The right players and media players for digital signage

Different solutions, from simple USB stick solutions to integrated system-on-chip designs and dedicated external signage players, each offer different benefits and application possibilities. Choosing the right hardware for your digital signage project therefore requires a close look at your individual needs in terms of performance, cost, installation and management.

usb-nobubble

USB stick

This is a least expensive but least powerful solution. The content is usually created on a computer and then copied to a USB stick that is inserted into the screen. The screen then plays the content directly from the USB stick. This method is very simple and inexpensive, but does not offer network connectivity or centralised management features and is therefore most suitable for digital signage on individual displays in one location.

prozessor-nobubble

System on Chip (SoC)

System on Chip is an integrated solution where the digital signage player is integrated directly into the screen. The main advantage of this method is that no external hardware is required, resulting in easier installation and a tidy appearance. Additionally, you can use the SoC with signage software such as MagicInfo, SuperSign or Teos to centrally manage multiple displays and create content. However, the performance of an SoC cannot usually match that of a dedicated external player, which means that this solution is good for simple applications but may not be the best choice for more complex digital signage projects.

slots-nobubble

Signage Player

Signage players are specially developed external devices that can be connected to one or more screens. Thanks to their network connection, they enable centralised content management and updating. They are known for their performance and reliability and offer a wide range of features, including support for interactive content and video walls. Although more expensive than other options and requiring more complex installation and configuration, they offer a high degree of flexibility and control over the digital display system.

WLAN vs. cable - connectivity

The type of transmission plays a crucial role in the implementation of digital signage solutions and often depends on the specific requirements and constraints of the project. Both wired and wireless transmissions have their respective advantages, which should be carefully weighed against each other.

Wireless transmission
Wired transmission

Display wall mount

Indoor bracket systems - bracket vs. housing

The right choice of a mount is crucial for the successful implementation of digital signage. Different use cases require different types of mounts.

display-wandhalterung-flexibel-nobubble

Should the bracket be tiltable, swivelling or rigid?

Tilt and swivel mounts offer maximum flexibility in positioning the display. They are particularly suitable for environments where the orientation of the screen needs to be flexibly adjusted. Rigid mounts are suitable for environments where the screen is fixed in position and a constant line of sight must be maintained.

display-decke-nobubble

Should the bracket be placed on the wall or on the ceiling?

The placement of the mount depends on the space available and the specific application. Wall mounts are the most common solution, while ceiling mounts are often used in shop windows, airports or showrooms where wall space is lacking or line of sight from the floor must be maintained.

vesa-nobubble

Which VESA is required?

The VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) standard specifies the dimensions of the mounting points on the back of the screen. The VESA dimensions vary depending on the size and model of the screen. Therefore, you must ensure that the mount you choose is compatible with the VESA standard of the display.

kg-nobubble

What is the load capacity of the bracket?

The bracket must be able to safely support the weight of the display. The load capacity of the bracket should always be higher than the weight of the display.

Icon portrait and landscape format

In which orientation should the display be placed?

Depending on what content is to be shown, the display can be placed in landscape, portrait or multi-format. The mount must be selected accordingly.

dualscreen-nobubble

How many displays are to be mounted?

Single mounts are ideal when only one screen is mounted. For installations where several screens are arranged next to or above each other (e.g. video walls), multiple mounts are suitable.

digital_signage

Special features of outdoor mounting systems

For outdoor use of digital signage, additional aspects need to be considered to ensure the longevity and performance of the system in the open air.

outdoor-nobubble

Weather resistance

When used outdoors, the weather is a crucial factor. The digital signage system must be designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. This means it must be waterproof, dustproof and able to withstand both high and low temperatures. Protection from direct sunlight is also important to avoid overheating and to ensure the readability of the display

Icon Outdoor Projector

Outdoor enclosures and kiosk systems

Special outdoor enclosures can be used to modify standard displays for outdoor use. These enclosures provide the necessary protection from weather and vandalism to keep the inside of the display safe and functional. Another option for outdoor use is kiosk systems. They are often more robust and offer additional features such as interactivity.

With the development of new technologies and applications , the world of digital signage is constantly changing. By using the latest technologies, the customer experience can be improved and companies can achieve their goals more successfully.

Icon Calibration

Visitor Tracking / Retail Analytics

Visitor tracking and retail analytics in the digital signage environment deal with the collection and analysis of data to optimise the customer experience. Modern tools can be used, for example, to analyse which areas of a shop are visited most frequently, which displays attract the most attention or at which times most customers are in the shop. These valuable insights can then be used to make advertising and product placements more targeted and effective.
technologie-nobubble

RFID and sensor technology

The use of RFID technology and sensors in digital signage offers interesting possibilities for personalised and interactive customer experiences. By combining RFID tags in products and digital signage, displays can show targeted information or advertising when a customer picks up a particular product from the shelf. Sensors can also detect movements, touches or even the direction of the customer's gaze, creating interactive experiences.
